Case study – Improving early identification and support of stress and distress, Royal Infirmary Edinburgh: September 2025
Document Type
Improvement support
Summary
Our Reducing Stress and Distress Improvement Programme develops resources to identify and implement improvement ideas. These ideas enhance identification and person-centred care for patients living with dementia.
Staff in ward 202 at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh recognised a rise in stress and distress behaviour in patients on the ward. This was leading to an increase in the length of time spent in hospital.
This case study details how they worked with our programme to improve the care of patients living with dementia.
