Conditions of registration

1. The provider will operate an independent hospital (hospice).

2. The service will operate 24hrs Monday to Sunday.

3. The provider must only allow specialist palliative care on both an in-patient and domiciliary care basis.

4. The provider must not allow more than 13 in-patient places.

5. The provider must not allow the provision of dental treatments (including dental hygiene treatments, dental implants, tooth whitening and orthodontics).

6. The provider must not allow any ionising radiation exposures to be carried out.

7. The provider must not allow any treatments or procedures to be carried out using any form of general anaesthesia.

8. The provider must only treat service users from 16 or over.

9. The provider must ensure that patients under the age of 16 are not treated as day case patients.

10. The provider must only consult and examine patients from the age of 16 years on an out-patient basis.

11. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

12. The provider must ensure that staff possess the appropriate skills, knowledge, and experience and that they are provided in sufficient numbers to ensure the safety and welfare of patients, the public and wider workforce.

13. The provider must ensure that staff requiring to be registered by a professional regulating body are actively registered.

14. The provider must ensure a registered medical officer that specialises in palliative care is available on call at all times.

15. The provider must only treat patients individually, group treatments are not permitted.
