Summary

These are the learnings from tools and the techniques used during the establishment of NHS Louisa Jordan. This was in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It has much to offer NHS Scotland. Especially in the high pressured environments we experience in winter.

Optimising capacity in health systems under pressure is a toolkit. We designed it to support health boards in an increasingly pressurised environment. It includes:

  • the ‘Seven Questions’ (7Qs): a sequential planning tool which can support the structure and development of a plan
  • the ‘Rehearsal of Concept’ (RoC): drill techniques to develop, rehearse and implement any new system
  • a ‘Check-in for Change’: a tool that promotes a continuous learning system
