Summary

NHS Borders set up a central booking hub for Community Treatment and Care (CTAC) appointments. This gave patients another way to access services and helped reduce the workload for GP practices.

Impact:

  • A new self‑referral option helped people get ear care more quickly.
  • A dedicated phone line was created for patients who found booking systems hard to use.
  • Neurodiverse and anxious patients were given more flexible ways to communicate.
