Improvement support

Summary

Our Reducing Stress and Distress Improvement Programme develops resources to identify and implement improvement ideas. These ideas enhance identification and person-centred care for patients living with dementia.

A structured, holistic approach to understanding the causes of stress and distress has enabled Ward C4 at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary to significantly reduce stress and distress and embed sustainable person-centred approaches. The ward has seen a marked reduction in psychoactive medication administered when required (PRN) and positive feedback from patients and unpaid carers.

This case study details how they worked with our programme to improve the care of patients living with dementia.
