On Wednesday 25 March 2026, the Mental Health and Substance Use team at Healthcare Improvement Scotland and Drugs Research Network Scotland held a follow up event.

This webinar followed on from the previous in person event held on 12 November which focused on Scotland’s ambitions for improving the lives of people with co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns, looking at putting evidence into practice.

The webinar aimed to:

  • review the thematic synthesis report of presentations and discussions from 12 November
  • contextualise participant reflections in light of the new drugs strategy
  • gain stakeholder insight into future priorities for Healthcare Improvement Scotland work programmes

People who took part in the webinar shared some helpful ideas you might want to think about:

  • Explore ways to strengthen integrated and collaborative working across services.
  • Consider how to improve pathways and communication to support people with co‑occurring conditions.
  • Keep promoting and embedding a holistic approach to care.
  • Stay mindful of the wider work happening behind the scenes that supports effective, person‑centered practice.
