Summary

We have developed a set of core standards that will apply across national screening programmes in Scotland. 

The core standards will support consistency and reduce duplication.

The core standards cover: 

  • leadership and governance in screening programmes
  • quality assurance
  • screening incident management and reporting
  • staff training and education
  • informed decision making
  • equity in screening

Overview of standards

Standard 1: Each organisation demonstrates effective leadership, governance and partnership working in the management and delivery of high quality screening programmes across Scotland.

Standard 2: Each screening programme has robust quality assurance systems.

Standard 3: Each organisation demonstrates robust processes for screening incident management and reporting.

Standard 4: Organisations ensure staff are trained, skilled, knowledgeable and competent.

Standard 5: People invited for screening receive information and support to enable informed choice and decision making.

Standard 6: Equity in screening Screening programmes demonstrate commitment to equity in screening.
