The Essentials of Safe Care is a package of evidenced-based guidance and support. It helps Scotland’s health and social care system to deliver safe care.
An important first step for preparing the organisation and participating teams to improve practice relating to the Essentials of Safe Care is to assess readiness for change and understand current practice. The tools presented to assist you in determining readiness for change are consistent with the five enablers of quality as set out within the Scottish Approach to Change.
This toolkit aims to support you to:
- assess readiness for change – assess if the right conditions for change are in place
- understand current practice against the Essentials of Safe Care – determine the extent to which these are currently embedded
- prioritise – agree where to focus effort for highest impact
