Improvement support for Medication Assisted Treatment Standards implementation

Scotland’s National Mission on Drugs and Alcohol created the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) standards. The standards aim to reduce drug related harm and death while promoting recovery.

There are 10 evidence based MAT standards. They define what is needed for the consistent delivery of safe and accessible drug treatment and support in Scotland. They enable people to get treatment for as long as they need. It also ensures treatment is safe, accessible and person-centred.

Our national learning system and implementation resources support the implementation of the MAT standards. Full details of the MAT Standards are available on the Scottish Government website.
