Resources 1 and 2 are guides to help people make informed decisions about antidepressants, benzodiazepines and z-drugs. They are designed for healthcare professionals and people taking these medicines. The guides offer practical advice to support care that meets each person’s needs and preferences.
The guides were developed by the Scottish Government with support from NHS Scotland, academics and people with lived experience. They promote safe and appropriate prescribing, help improve treatment outcomes and support person-centred care.
The guides were produced following a recommendation from the Short Life Working Group on Prescription Medicines and Withdrawal. This group reviewed antidepressant use across Scotland and included healthcare professionals and people with lived experience.
