Media release: Inspection Report Golden Jubilee University National Hospital, NHS Golden Jubilee
Healthcare Improvement Scotland today (Wednesday 5 November) published a report relating to an unannounced follow-up inspection visit to Golden Jubilee University National Hospital, NHS Golden Jubilee. The inspection took place on 2 September 2025.
We carried out an unannounced inspection at the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital from 21 to 22 November, 2023, where, as well as noting five areas of good practice, we also made a total of three requirements.
The purpose of the follow-up inspection in September 2025 was to assess the progress that has been made within the NHS Golden Jubilee improvement action plan.
Speaking of the report, Donna Maclean, Chief Inspector, Healthcare Improvement Scotland, said:
“During this follow-up inspection we found significant improvements in the completion of patient care documentation, which was completed to a high standard.
“We recognise improvement works have been carried out to the maintenance of the building, however, we saw several clinical areas with wear and tear and damage that may hinder effective cleaning. Therefore, a previous requirement given in 2023 will be carried over.
“We found attendance at hospital wide and ward-based safety huddles had improved since our previous inspection.
“Our inspectors observed that patients were consistently treated with kindness, compassion and respect. Patients and relatives shared positive experiences and described staff as ‘friendly, patient, responsive and supportive’ and confirmed they could access help when they needed it.”
Chief Inspector, Healthcare Improvement Scotland
This follow-up inspection resulted in three areas of good practice and no recommendations or new requirements. One requirement from the November 2023 inspection has been carried over.
An improvement action plan has been developed by NHS Golden Jubilee in order to meet the requirements.
