On Wednesday 30 July, our Mental Health and Substance Use team hosted an online clinical network webinar. This webinar explored how statutory and third sector services can work together to better support people who use substances with a range of needs.
We heard from:
- Change Grow Live and Forth Valley Substance Use Psychology Service
- PHOENIx (Pharmacy Homeless Outreach Engagement Non medical Independent prescribing) – a health and social care outreach project for people experiencing severe and multiple disadvantage.
Speakers shared learning about the importance of services being ‘sticky’, with proactive outreach and engagement, to maintain engagement from people experiencing severe and multiple disadvantage.
The webinar highlighted how through building relationships and creating regular spaces for conversations between services to take place, statutory and non-statutory services can ensure people are supported by the right people, at the right time, in the right place.
People who took part in the webinar shared some helpful ideas you might want to think about:
- Start conversations with senior leaders about how to improve ways of working.
- Explore ways to break down hierarchy across sectors and strengthen the role and visibility of third sector.
- Reflect on opportunities to enhance collaboration across services, and
- Collaborate with peer support and recovery workers, if available within your area.
