New toolkit promotes collaboration between mental health and substance use services

We have launched a new Mental Health and Substance Use Toolkit. Developed in partnership with five NHS boards, the toolkit supports health and care staff working across mental health and substance use. It aims to improve care through a more coordinated and collaborative approach.
The toolkit brings together tools and resources informed by evidence. It aims to help staff design and deliver services that meet the complex needs of people experiencing both mental health challenges and substance use.
The toolkit is centred around the eight steps of change outlined in the Scottish Approach to Change. It can support and guide teams around how to approach and make changes, from initial planning through to implementation and sustaining the change.
“We are delighted to launch our Mental Health and Substance Use Toolkit. It brings together key resources to help staff deliver the right care at the right time. We encourage staff to explore this toolkit and use it to strengthen collaboration across services.”
