Details
On Wednesday 21 May, our Mental Health and Substance Use team hosted an online webinar. This webinar focused on how mental health and substance use services can work more closely together.
Speakers shared learning from local interface meetings. These are regular planned meetings between different services. They allow for the sharing of information and can lead to joint support plans and an easier transition of care.
The webinar highlighted how interface meetings have improved relationships and communication across the system. It also demonstrated other improvement opportunities such as joint training, staff shadowing of other services, and data recording.
People who took part in the webinar shared some helpful ideas you might want to think about:
- If you already have an interface meeting, you could try creating joint diaries for case discussions and widening the membership of the meeting.
- If you don’t have interface meetings yet, you could share the examples from the webinar locally to see if interface meetings might be helpful in your area.
